Nottingham Castle was built 1068, shortly after William the Conqueror took over England
after the Battle Of Hastings. This was a wooden structure which was re-built in
the reign of Henry I.

It is a beautiful place to visit and has a wonderful museum and art gallery
as well as fantastic dungeon tours which were there not only for criminals but
as protection from invasion.
